Bemelmans Bar
Bemelmans Bar
Best remembered as the creator of the classic Madeline books for children, Ludwig Bemelmans once joked he'd like his tombstone to read: "Tell Them It Was Wonderful." Well, wonderful it was, and still is, at Bemelmans Bar. Named in honor of the legendary artist, Bemelmans is a timeless New York watering hole that has drawn socialites, politicians, movie stars and moguls for more than five decades.
Restored in 2002 by designer Thierry Despont, the bar maintains its Art Deco legacy with chocolate-brown leather banquettes, nickel-trimmed black glass tabletops, a dramatic black granite bar and a 24-karat gold leaf-covered ceiling. Featuring the only surviving Bemelmans' commission open to the public, the 75-seat bar combines wit and coziness in unique New York style.
Café Carlyle
Café Carlyle
The nightly scene is out of an old MGM classic, camera ready with a backdrop that is pure Manhattan and a soundtrack that is classic cabaret. Café Carlyle is known for headlining incredible talents, including Elaine Stritch, Judy Collins, Steve Tyrell and Woody Allen, who regularly appears to jam with the Eddy Davis New Orleans jazz band. For the past three decades, Café Carlyle has been synonymous with the legendary Bobby Short, who thrilled sell-out crowds for 36 years. His spirit will live on through the music at Café Carlyle.

The Gallery
The Gallery
Inspired by the sultan's dining room at the Topkapi Palace in Turkey, The Gallery is an exquisite, private retreat for refined dining. Divided into two tiers, it was designed by the legendary decorator Renzo Mongiardino for comfort and elegance. With deep red wallpapers, banquettes made from antique kilims, and red-fringed velvet chairs, guests are tempted to linger.
The Gallery features a modern twist on classics, such as Hudson Valley Foie Gras Torchon and assorted house-made pâtés, along with a complete afternoon tea with exotic teas, finger sandwiches, scones with authentic Devonshire cream, and fresh pastries.
