Wonderful small ship, perfect for busy itineraries

July

Pros: Easy to get around, wonderful staff, excellent food, clean, great itinerary

Cons: small bathrooms, small casino

Recommended: Yes

We loved this trip and this ship was perfect if you have a very busy itenary. The deluxe ocean view cabin was better than we expected. We usually do balcony but we booked this OV to try it out. We actually loved it. Europe was so hot (90 degrees to 103 degrees) and after long days in port we were soaked through our clothes. The last thing we would have done was be on our balcony in the heat. But to view the Amalfi coast from our window? Perfect. I would easily book this category for a cold weather cruise. The window was large enough for the natural night to come in and for you to see what's outside. We felt NO motion of the ocean on deck 4. I thought I wouldn't like that deck, but it was so easy to get to everything and so quiet! The food was excellent and all the staff were kind, friendly and helpful. Our cabin Steward Gede was one of the best we've ever had. Our refrigerator wasn't working and he had a new one brought up and stocked it with our preferred drinks in no time. This ship is small, and yes showing her age a bit - but hey, I can relate to that - and really, she's perfect. Comfortable, easy to get around and has what you need and want. Even though she's small - she never felt crowded - we were at 100% sailing and most times we were the only ones in the elevators. Food in the Terrace Cafe was tops - it was our prefered venue to sit outside aft with a grilled to order steak or chops or something more exotic from the buffet. The main dining room was equally as good. Toscano was excellent, but we were both disappointed with Polo Club this time. Our steaks were so over done I sent mine back (and I'm usually not that picky, but the difference from Medium Rare that I ordered to welldone that I had was a bit much). The lobster was incredibly small too. That could have just been a bad night or a one off because all the other times we've dined there it always was the highlight of our trip. Honestly, we wished we were at the Terrace that night. Our excursions we booked through Oceania were hit and miss - but most were very good. It was incredibly hot so it would have been nice if we had water available on the bus or time to refill them in port - sometimes we ran out of the water in our bottles and were struggling a bit. I do think Oceania does a great job on a variety of excursions. We did several city tours, a wine tasting and lunch, toured a local farm with a farm to table lunch, took a boat ride around the Amalfi coast and had a wonderful beach day in Menorca. So the mix was great! Our only issues: The bathrooms are so small. We didn't have any trouble using them, but someone larger might have an issue with the shower size. The casino is so small - not an issue really, just an observation. Still had fun losing some money (next time we'll win it back)

Hawaiian & Polynesian Dream vacation

January

Pros: The tours were great. Loved the food in the dining room & speciality restaurants.

Cons: Wished there were more specialty restaurants. Needed more lounge chairs on the promenade decks.

Recommended: Yes

There needs to be an evaluation system for each tour. Also the level of mobility is not always true for the tours. Staff were outstanding and wonderful to be around. Clean & happy environment on the ship.

Small ship

October

Pros: Smaller size allows you to meet other guests; smaller size allows for personalized services

Cons: Pricey; later port times made for rushed and unpleasant excursions

Recommended: Yes

We loved this cruise. The crew was was wonderful. The only downside to this trip was the later port times. We were rushed to get through tours and in some cases things were closed or it was dark so you couldn’t see what guides were telling you about.

Pros: beautiful ship, service was superb,

Cons: showers very small, no port talks, not enough info about what to do

Recommended: Yes

Would have given up the industrial ports with not much to see for more time in N.S, and Quebec and Montreal

Oceania’s decline

May

Pros: Not much

Cons: Food quality, quantity and variety; no special events onboard; short staff; poorly trained staff

Recommended: No

Oceania used to be my “go to” cruise line for the finest cuisine at sea and wonderful ships and itineraries. But no more. In spite of increasing fares and fees, it has significantly cut corners everywhere. The finest cuisine at sea is now no better than any other cruise line. Food quality has degraded significantly—all the beef served was tough, even filets. Variety has decreased —fewer choices and cheaper cuts of meat. Also of note is the fact that no special culinary events were put on—no buffets, no cooking demonstrations. My cruise occurred over Mother’s Day and absolutely nothing was done in recognition of the day. There was not even mention of the day in the Daily Currents bulletin. And the ship (Nautica) is in decline—My cabin had no hot water in the wash basin sink and it was never repaired despite numerous complaints—three times to the Hotel Manager himself. And there was mold in my shower. In the past, I willingly paid a premium price for Oceania’s premium product, but the premium product is gone, on top of their increased prices. The value is gone and I’m moving on.

Great cruise

March

Pros: The destinations and shore excursions; the comfort of the ship & stateroom; the staff; activities and O Points with gifts; the spa treatments

Cons: Too formal dress code (prefer more casual); stateroom did not have ventilation; dinner and shows start too late; medical cost too high for services

Recommended: Yes

The itinerary was excellent and the shore excursions were very well done. The places we saw and the tours were incredible. The staff on the ship and especially the spa and our butler were excellent, although the products that the spa sells were excellent but too expensive. The stateroom was very comfortable but had a few things that needed to be improved. We unfortunately missed several ports of call because of weather but understand this can happen. We will book a larger stateroom for a trip of this length again. We are strongly considering several additional Oceania cruises that are offered in 2025. Overall we had a wonderful experience on this exceptional vacation.

Med Johrney

October

Pros: Seamless and we'll taken care of for every need. Amazing

Cons: Venice as one of the itineraries was not as advertised. The port we were in and standing in a line to get to Venice was almost two hours and that would not include actually getting on to the island. I actually gave up. That was a disappointment.

I have cruised on beautiful Oceiana four times with another Transatlantic in March 2024. As a solo traveler the solo cabins were a great idea and very well appreciated indeed. Thankyou for considering a true need in the cruise industry. I do wish the the single supplement was not so high.
